There is a big difference between Mac and Windows when it comes to the keyboard. 2. The next one is to take a partial screen shot. If you want to capture just a portion of the desktop, then press Command + Shift + 4. After that, a cross-hair cursor will appear and you can click and drag to select the area you wish to capture. After you release the mouse, the print screen Mac will be automatically saved as a PNG file on the desktop. A little notice that the file is saved as PDF in Mac OS 10.3 and earlier.

If you have Preview installed in your mac, you just simply click on “File” on the menu bar, on the list there will be “Take Screen Shot” function, and it offers you 3 different print screen choices: “From Selection”, “From Window” and “From Entire Screen”.
